Description

Day 1
Experience time-travelling like never before on this wonderful trip to the medieval city of Canterbury in the heart of the ‘Garden of England’ Kent. Your adventure begins when you meet your Golden Tours Representative at St Pancras station ticket office where you will be presented with a welcome pack and your tickets ready for your day of exploration!
Check out of your hotel in the morning and enjoy a high-speed train to the medieval city that you will call home for the next 24 hours.

On arrival, check-in to your hotel and get your walking boots on as you start your time travelling adventures in one of the UK’s most famous cities. Home to Canterbury Cathedral, Canterbury is bursting at the seams with rich history ready and waiting for you to uncover. From its quaint cobbled streets to its giant medieval wall enclosing the city centre, you’re in for a treat with this jam-packed tour!

First stop has to be Canterbury Cathedral in the heart of the city centre, surrounded by gorgeous little cafes and boutiques. Venture inside to discover the tomb of Thomas Becket and the shrine of past Archbishops’ of Canterbury as well as some of the most exquisite stained glass windows you’ll see. This wirkd0famous landmark is one of the oldest Christian structures in England and forms part of a World Heritage site and it’s no guessing as to why!

Settle down to light lunch in one of the city’s quaint eateries that line the cobbled high street. From home-made pastries by the Westgate Towers to the quintessential British foods by the Clock Tower, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The next stop on your Canterbury adventure could be to the historic Canterbury Tales (optional extra) just off the high street. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city life, the Canterbury Tales tells the stories written by the world-famous medieval poet, Christopher Marlow. Taking you back in time to the treacherous medieval past of this great city, you’ll get to hear the tales of a formidable knight, a Miller, a Pardoner and the Wife of Bath - a truly unforgettable way to discover more about this fascinating city.

Want to get your gladrags on and head out to some evening entertainment? Look no further than the well-acclaimed Marlowe Theatre just off the high street. Surrounded by candle-lit restaurant and only a stone’s throw away from an idyllic walk along the river, it’s the perfect end to a day of exploring.

Day 2
Enjoy the cobbled streets of this medieval city and walk the high street towards the historic Westgate Towers. Here, you can learn of some of the richest history of Canterbury, or you can venture into the gorgeous flowered gardens next to the river bank. If you’re looking for something relaxing after spending all day on your feet on day 1, enjoy the quintessential British tradition of afternoon tea at one of the many delicious bakeries on offer or accompany with a fascinating walking tour of the city – bliss!

Day 3
It’s departure time so head to Canterbury West at 12.25 for your departure to London!
