Description
The Jane Austen Centre, located at 40 Gay Street in Bath, is a permanent exhibition. Situated in an original Georgian townhouse, it tells the story of Jane’s time in Bath, including the effect that living here had on her and her writing.

Come and meet the costumed ‘character’ guides, and enjoy being shown Bath’s fascinating history and its associations with Jane Austen and her family. The Centre also now features a specially commissioned waxwork of Jane – two years in the making, with the assistance of an internationally-renowned sculptor, an FBI-trained forensic artist and a Bafta and Emmy award-winning costume designer.

No visit to the Centre is complete without stopping for refreshment at its wonderful Regency Tea Room, open daily for afternoon and cream teas, light lunches, cakes and drinks – and the new favourite, a bubbly champagne afternoon tea! The Tea Room is open whether you visit the Centre or not, so you’re welcome to pop in or book a table any time.
